Tilt Energy Wins the “Energy Flexibility” Prize at the 2025 Perifem Awards: A Milestone for Smarter and Greener Retail Businesses

On March 25th, for Perifem Day 2025 held at La Seine Musicale in Paris, Tilt Energy was honored to receive the Perifem Awards – Energy Flexibility prize, alongside 12 other outstanding innovators working towards a more sustainable retail sector.

This award, presented by a jury of major retail industry leaders (Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, Carrefour, Leclerc, U, Decathlon, Leroy Merlin, Auchan, Lidl, Conforama…) and coordinated by Perifem, the French Technical Federation for Commerce, is far more than a trophy — it sends a strong signal: energy flexibility is now a strategic lever for decarbonising the retail sector and building energy-resilient communities.

1. Why Unlocking the Energy Flexibility of Buildings Is Essential to the Energy Transition

While this recognition is a great honor, it most importantly highlights a critical reality: commercial buildings sit at the heart of the energy transition. In France, they account for over 32% of final electricity consumption. Their decarbonisation will require smarter, more agile, and more efficient management of electricity demand.

At Tilt Energy, we believe the future of the energy system lies not only in clean electricity generation, but also in the activation of distributed flexibility — the untapped potential to shift or optimize the timing of electricity use embedded in our buildings, our transports, and our everyday habits.

Our 100% software-based platform connects commercial and residential buildings directly to energy markets to:

  • Create new value streams for real estate managers
  • Reduce emissions by limiting the need for to activate polluting back-up gas power plants during demand peaks
  • Relieve pressure on the grid at critical moments
  • Stabilize and lower electricity prices

2. A Retail Sector Ready to Turn Constraints into Catalysts

The 2025 edition of Perifem Day brought together over 800 retail decision-makers, all aligned around a shared message: the sector must accelerate its energy and ecological transition.

The showcased innovations — spanning energy efficiency, circular economy solutions, and infrastructure resilience — clearly demonstrated that retailers are no longer passive energy users. They are becoming active contributors to a more balanced, flexible and sustainable grid.

Our win at the Perifem Awards reflects this broader shift: a growing recognition that commercial buildings can and must be part of the solution. That way, they transform regulatory and climate pressures into long-term opportunities.

3. A Shared Vision: Toward a More Resilient and Equitable Energy System

This award reinforces our ambition: to accelerate the rise of a 100% electric world powered by clean energy, where every building plays a role in supporting grid stability and decarbonisation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Perifem and the entire jury for their trust, as well as to our clients, partners, and team members — without whom this progress would not be possible.

The energy transition will be collective and technology-driven and Tilt Energy is proud to be one of its committed enablers.
